Zillertal Nature Park

Once around Mayrhofen

This is the best way to get to know Mayrhofen and the surroundings: on the loop trail, you will hike via the Oberkumbichl, Stilluperweg, and the district of Dorf-Haus through the nature of the Alps. You will come across forests and meadows and can enjoy a beautiful view of Mayrhofen and the scenery of the Penkenjoch at an elevation of 900 m. For this trail with a length of 8 km, you should plan for 3 hours.

Bergmähderweg nature trail

The starting point of this hike is the Brandberg, located east of Mayrhofen, which you can reach by car or bus. From here, you will hike 6 km past mountain meadows and pastures, which are important for farming and which are home to an unimaginable variety of plants.

With some luck, you might even come across gentian or orchids. The destination of this stage of the hike is the Kolmhaus at an elevation of 1,840 m – to reach this, you must overcome inclines of up to 33%. Luckily, hearty snacks and a well-deserved schnapps are awaiting you once you have reached your destination.
